dataTaker - Data Loggers, Powerful and Flexible Data Acquisition and Data Logging Systems
Powerful Data Logger and Flexible Data Acquisition and Data Logging Systems

Datataker Open Source Software
The software provided on this page is provided with source code and is intended for use by experienced developers. There is NO WARRANTY and technical support is limited, which is why we provide the source code. The software is made available to you with very few restrictions. You may use, modify, redistribute etc. Please see the source code files for a full statement about what you may do with the software.

G-plot
The Gplot application will take output files from the DT80 range of data loggers and convert the files for use with Google EarthTM. 3D plots can be made of data downloaded data from the data logger.
Gplot has 3 modes of operation: Single Use, Multiple Graphs and Batch Mode.

dataTaker Active X control
The dataTaker Active X control aids software developers in the creation of custom application software for use with dataTaker data loggers. It provides over 60 functions for automatically finding and creating connections to dataTaker data loggers, sending commands and unloading data. It can be used with Microsoft Excel and Access, for example, allowing graphs to be created showing real time or logged data, or allowing datatabases to be created to store data.

Pre-requisite: Knowledge of Advanced Windows Programming

Datataker Binary Data (DBD) File Convertor - Dump_DBD
The Dump_DBD command line utility converts DBD files to readable ascii data. If you need a specific output format then you may need to modify the supplied source code to suit. The source was compiled with Microsoft Visual C/C++ 97. It is fairly straightforward C++ code that should easily be ported to other compilers and environments (e.g. GCC, Linux).

LabVIEW Examples
The following programs have been written to demonstrate applications using the dataTaker Instrument Driver for LabVIEW.

There are further examples included in the driver, which demonstrate the use of the various dataTaker VIs. They can be selected from the User Libraries section of the functions palette in the block diagram.

Demo DT800 SSP
Written in LabVIEW 7.1

This allows a user to demonstrate some functions of LabVIEW using the DT800 data logger with the Sensor Simulation Panel.

The program will do the following.
1) Prompt the user to select one of the available serial ports
2) Test to see if a dataTaker data logger is on the select serial port
3) Clear any data and set the data logger to a default state
4) Write a new program to the data logger
5) Test the serial port, and if any data is on the port, read and display the data
6) Carry out any user requests using events
7) Close the program when requested by the user

The progam includes a number of VIs used on the dataTaker Weather Station http://weather.datataker.com.au/

Demo DT500 SSP
Written in LabVIEW 7.1

This allows a user to demonstrate some functions of LabVIEW using the DT500 data logger with the Sensor Simulation Panel.

Solar Weather Station
This software was developed in LabVIEW 7.0

The program demonstrates a simple application, writing a program to a data logger, then reading and displaying the data.

Solar weather station.vi was written for a DT50, connected to com port 1, at 9600 baud rate, 8 data bits, one stop bit, no parity, and XON/XOFF flow control.

solar weather station 800.vi was written for a DT800. You will need to specify the IP address you use in two locations. In the block diagram, under the "Start" selection of the case structure, and the "Initialise" selection of the case structure. You will see the string constant, labelled "IP address"

Simple Plot
Written in LabVIEW 6.0.2

This program plots a graph of the historical data of data logger

The VI assumes that the connection is correctly identified, there is a program running on the dataTaker datalogger, and the data is logged with the LOGON command.

Ensure you select the correct connection type, and the correct connection settings relevant to your connection.
